Frontier Power, Japan Interconnector and partners sign AZEC MOU

Japan Interconnector has entered an MOU with Frontier Power, Enterprize Energy and Verdana Malaysia in relation to co-development of a 2 GW HVDC interconnector between Vietnam and Singapore. The MOU was announced at the Asia Zero Energy Community (AZEC) event organised by the Japanese government and held in Jakarta on August 21, 2024.

The MOU establishes a framework for cooperation on several key projects, including Vietnam-Singapore Electricity Link (proposed multi-GW undersea link), Thang Long Offshore Wind Project, Vietnam (a large scale offshore wind project), other regional interconnectors being pursued by the parties in South East Asia and carbon credit monetization (with the help of partner and carbon specialist, Verdana).
